Shahid Afridi is a former Pakistani cricketer who is considered one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of the game. He was born on March 1, 1980, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, and made his debut for the Pakistani cricket team at the young age of 16 in 1996.

 

Afridi was known for his aggressive style of play, both with the bat and the ball. He also took 48 wickets in Tests, 395 wickets in ODIs, and 98 wickets in T20Is.

 

Afridi's biggest moment in cricket came in his very first international innings, where he scored a record-breaking 37-ball century against Sri Lanka in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1996. This remains the fastest century in ODI history to date. Afridi's exploits with the bat continued over the years, and he went on to score six more centuries in ODIs, including a career-best score of 124 off just 60 balls against Bangladesh in 2010.

 

Afridi's bowling was equally impressive, and he was known for his wicket-taking abilities. He holds the record for the most wickets in T20Is (98) and is the only bowler to take more than 50 wickets in both T20Is and ODIs.2015, but continued to play T20Is until 2018.

 

Off the field, Afridi was involved in various charitable activities through his Shahid Afridi Foundation, which provides education and healthcare services to underprivileged communities in Pakistan. He was also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine in 2013.
