What we consume or eat on a daily basis has a powerful effect on the skin. Just as there are foods that complicate skin matters, so are they some that help in preventing skin pigmentations such as pimples, thereby keeping the skin clear and smooth. Sometimes, it can be very embarassing looking in the mirror and seeing spots sitting on the skin and worst of all, done all you can to get rid of them but all to no avail.

Getting rid of pimples are not limited to these foods alone but the ones listed below have been proven to be effective. They are:

SPINACH

Spinach is one effective veggie you can eat when it comes to clearing pimples. To get rid of pimples, you could either cook it or make a face mask by blending it with a little water before applying on the face for 20 minutes. By doing this, it removes dirt, oil and inflammation from the skin, thus refreshing and rejuvenating it from within. You can also drink spinach juice with other vegetable juices mixed as you like it; drink this juice daily, then you will have pimples bidding you farewell for life.

COCOA

Cocoa is yet another wonderful anti-pimple agent that you probably haven't heard of yet. Dark cocoa powder contains 100% cacao content and is very rich in taste, contains no sugar and great for your skin. Though it's low in anti-oxidants than regular cocoa, it is highly alkaline and can found in popular stores and pharmacies.

FISH (Salmon or Tuna)

Changing your diet from meat/beef to fish might just do the trick. Fish is rich in healthy Omega-3 fatty acids which help in boosting the skin's defence against ultra-violet damage. According to a study published in 2009, researchers discovered that individuals who ate little than 5 ounces of Omega-3 rich fish as salmon and tuna reduced the development of precancerous lesions by almost 30%. Do you now see the need to switch to fish?

CARROTS

If you are the type with a sweet tooth or have a craving for sugar, this might be your favourite. Carrots are rich in Vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene which is a powerful weapon against pimples; eating carrots with a healthy diet reduces pimples significantly within a period of two weeks.

HONEY

Honey is a natural acne treatment that helps in curing acne in two ways: first, eating honey reduces the sensitivity of the skin and second, using honey masks eliminates bacteria from the skin. But the best kind of honey for treating acne is pure, natural honey gotten from the beehives; some may have tried but failed to get results because they probably used refined honey. In getting rid of pimples, pure honey is what performs the magic.

AVOCADO

This tasty green fruit rich in Vitamin E can also increase the skin's vitality. The fruit and seed possess powerful chemicals and anti-oxidants that over the years helped in treating inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis, pimples and eczema.
