There is something strange about the past. Years can pass, people can change, places can disappear, and yet a single song, smell, photograph, or sentence can suddenly take us back. For a moment, we are no longer sitting in the present. We are somewhere else—somewhere we thought we had left behind.
And somehow, the past often looks more beautiful from a distance.
We remember the late-night conversations, the laughter, the familiar streets, the little routines, and the people who once felt permanent. We remember how a particular day felt, but we often forget everything that made that day difficult. The arguments become blurry. The loneliness becomes quieter. The disappointments lose their sharp edges.
