Introduction: My Struggle With Sleepless Nights
For quite some time, I have been having issues with insomnia. I would spend hours in bed trying to fall asleep with little to no success. It was genuinely affecting my life since I was tired and moody throughout the day because I did not get enough rest. However, instead of going to the doctor and asking for sleeping pills, I decided to change certain habits in my daily routine to improve my sleep schedule. And guess what? It worked!
Day 1: I Fixed My Sleep Schedule
The first thing I did was set my bedtime and wake-up time so that I could establish a healthy sleep pattern. I made sure to go to bed and wake up at the same time each day so that my body could get used to this new routine.
Day 2: I Limited My Screen Time
Since I tend to scroll through my social media accounts before going to bed, I decided to put my phone aside 30-60 minutes before my bedtime to give my brain a rest. Instead I sat down and read a book or listened to music.
Day 3: I Made Some Necessary Changes
On the third day, I stopped drinking caffeinated beverages and eating heavy meals 2-3 hours before I went to bed. Also, I tried not to drink much water before I went to sleep, and I tried to eat lighter meals during the day.

Day 4: I Made My Bedroom Cozy
On the 4th day, I decided to create a sleep-friendly environment in my bedroom. I bought new bedding, made sure there were no uncomfortable items lying around, got rid of any unnecessary sounds, and made sure my bed was only for sleeping.
Day 5-7: I Tried Out New Healthy Habits

During these days, I went out for morning walks, got enough sunlight, exercised regularly, and started practicing deep breathing. I also stopped taking long naps during the day. And thus, I managed to fall and stay asleep much more easily.
Conclusion: Better Sleep Without Medicine
These are the things I did to improve my nightly sleep in only a week. Of course, everyone has a different experience with insomnia and sleep deprivation. You may have to try some other methods in order to find the most effective one for you. But remember that if your insomnia persists for too long and begins to affect your daily life, you should probably contact a medical professional. And lastly, do not forget to be patient and persistent throughout the process since it is the only way your body would truly adjust to the new changes.
