The Beginning: A Jungle, A Bird

There was a jungle. In that jungle, you know, there lived a bird. And man, that bird... uff... she was just so, so lovely. Really. She was really, really compassionate. She used to love everyone. She had good relations with, like, every single bird in the whole jungle. She never, ever gave anyone a chance to complain. Not at all.

Everyone in the whole jungle liked that bird, because she loved everyone from her heart too. She was always, always ready to help just anyone. She never spoke bad about anyone, not even once. She used to tell all the birds that look, we all have to live together, love each other, and protect ourselves from enemies. If we respect each other, if we, like, care for each other, if we help each other, then together we can face any enemy. Any enemy at all.

The Danger: The Attack of the Crows

Days just passed like this. The whole atmosphere of the jungle, it just kept shining with love, it stayed bright. Then after some days, we found out that some crows had, like, taken over the neighboring jungle. Now those crows were really, really big ones. And what did they do... I mean, whenever any sparrow or any bird would try to go out of the jungle, they would just harass them. For no reason. Sometimes they’d hit them with a pebble, sometimes they’d just wound them with their beaks, you know, the poor things. Those sparrows and birds were very gentle souls. They would just silently bear it and come back home, and wouldn’t even tell anyone.

One day, though, they just crossed the limit. There was a sparrow named Rahim, and some crows wounded him so badly that he was, like, close to death. That's it. His friends picked him up and when they brought him back to the jungle, and when our bird found out that the crows from the next jungle had attacked him, she got extremely, extremely worried.

The Courage: The Decision to Unite

She said, "What has happened? What kind of goon-type crows have come here?" She said, "We have to face them together, otherwise they’ll just keep attacking us like this, again and again." The bird, along with all the other birds, she made a plan that we will teach these crows a good lesson, because they are taking unfair advantage of us, of our honesty, of our simple nature. We should not remain silent now. Not anymore. We have to face them now.

The bird got all the birds ready and she said, "There is no doubt that we are smaller than them in size, yeah, but in courage and spirit we are not less than these crows at all. Not one bit. Not even as much as a mustard seed.
We will face them. Now whenever any crow or gang of crows is met on the way, we all have to face them together, we have to fight them." And so it happened. With the bird’s brave speech, all the other birds, they got their courage back and everyone got ready to answer the enemy.

The Victory: The Blessing of Unity

Then after some days, when Rahim the sparrow got completely fine and was able to fly around again, everyone made a plan together that today, because our brother Rahim is fine now, we will celebrate. All the sparrows and birds together arranged a celebration and all the birds came to it – sparrows too, the bird too, mynas too, doves too, nightingales too – and everyone was properly invited that tonight we will all enjoy together, we will eat and drink, we will have fun, and we will have a beautiful celebration for Rahim the sparrow’s health.

The sparrows and birds arranged all kinds of food. Every bird brought one dish each, saying that there will be one dish from each of us and we will all celebrate this together. It was like a fair in the jungle.
Everyone was happily celebrating. And on the other side, the crows from the next jungle had already gotten the news that a celebration was happening for that sparrow’s health. They said, "We will ruin their celebration now." There was a gang of some mischievous crows. They all got together and they all went to that neighboring jungle where all those animals, where all those birds were celebrating, eating and drinking, laughing.
These crows, together, first of all, started hitting the birds on their heads with their beaks, started throwing their stuff. At first everyone got scared, but immediately they heard the bird’s voice who said, "No matter how big the enemy is in size, he is weaker than us in front of our courage. So there is no need to be afraid, and attack them together."

Then what happened – as soon as they saw, everyone picked up big, big pebbles and started hitting those crows. All the birds became one. There were eight or ten crows, and mynas, nightingales, sparrows, the bird, doves – they were way more in number than them, and even more than that, they had courage. Everyone together faced them so strongly, hit them so much, hit them so much that they ran away with their tails between their legs, and ran in such a way, ran in such a way that they even left their own jungle. They got scared that "if they, being so much weaker than us, did this to us, then they won’t spare us," and they ran away in fear so badly that they never, ever came back to that jungle again.

So friends, from this we learn the lesson that if we have unity and togetherness inside us, then no matter how big the enemy is, he is zero in front of us – I mean, in front of our courage.

Moral: There is strength in Unity
