Taste the Magic of American's Beloved Key Lime Pie

Local residents used to make it first when they have limited access to fresh dairy product as refrigerators were not widely used. How To Make It ( Step By Step Guide ):


1. Preparing The Crust:
  • Preheat the oven about 175°C.
  • Combine sugar ( 3 tablespoons), graham cracker crumbs (150 gram) and melted butter (75 gram) and mix well.
  • Press to set the mixture in the dish and bake it for 10 min.
  • Leave the mixture to cool.
2. Make the Filling:
  • Add 4 egg yolks and sweetened condensed milk ( 14 oz ) and mix them.
  • Add ( 1 tablespoons) key lime juice and lime zest (120 ml)
  • Continue mixing until filling become creamy.
3. Bake the Pie:
  • Pour the filling in the prepared crust.
  • Bake it for 15-18 min, and leave to completely cool down.
  • Refrigerate it at least for 3 hours.
4. Add The Topping:
  • Spread the whipped cream.
  • Garnish with lime zest and lime slices.

Optional Toppings:

  • Heavy whipped cream
  • Lime slices.
  • Powdered sugar
